Floridas Abundant Wildlife in Okeechobee City FL
This is Capt Brian Brown with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report.
The North end of Lake Okeechobee is looking beautiful today. The best part of the trip was Floridas Abundant Wildlife in Okeechobee City, FL. I had a 4 hour trip this morning with Joe and his buddy Bill. They bought four dozen shiners and we headed out into the dense fog.
It was no easy task getting to our first spot this morning. The fog can make things slightly dangerous if you are not aware of your surroundings. Gladly, we managed to get to there.
Right away we caught a couple fish not in the target species. We finally got our first bass on the boat. It was a good one, right around 4 pounds and came up with another 4 pounder right after that.
We kept searching for spots and moving around a bit. The fish weren’t holding in one spot like normal. We wanted to check 6 or 7 different areas, to try to find more quality fish and we did. At he end of it all, we had a 6 and a quarter pounder, which is a stud.
We had a great day and a good time. Lots of laughs and I am looking forward to them coming back again.
Getting to enjoy the scenery and Florida’s abundant wildlife and fishery was a key component to the success of the day. The amount of birds Lake Okeechobee has is incredible. When you get out there, you can see the seagulls, hawks, loons, blue heron and etc. Alligators were out sun bathing.
